Congratulations to our Summer 2016 Outstanding Curriculum Leader Award recipient, Dr. Jimmy Shaw of Florence City Schools. Dr. Shaw has served as a high school teacher and coach, assistant principal, Director of Federal Programs, and Director of Instruction and Assessment. He currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction in Florence City Schools.
Dr. Shaw has presented at the CLAS Conference and Mega Conference and was a participant int he first cohort of the CLAS Instructional Leadership Institute. He completed the University of Alabama Superintendents Academy in 2012 and is currently a co-moderator of the #ALedchat on Twitter.
His colleagues describe Dr. Shaw as a bridge builder “between school buildings, classrooms, and personnel in order that teachers and students have more than what they need to be successful.” His superintendent noted his strength lies in “his ability to effectively apply his knowledge of research and best practice to the current reality of accountability-driven schools and districts to create meaningful experiences to yield increased student achievement and enhanced teacher performance.”
